What is Form I-140?
Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, is filed by an employer (or self-petitioner in some categories) to classify a worker for an employment-based green card under EB-1, EB-2, or EB-3.
Approval establishes the priority date and category but does not grant status — the worker still needs a current priority date and either adjustment of status (I-485) or consular processing.
